The chronicle of Yungang Grottoes was written by Zhang Zhuo, President of Yungang Grottoes Research Institute and published by Cultural Relics Publishing House. The first edition was printed in February 2006. This book is the first comprehensive history of Yungang Grottoes. Taking Yungang Grottoes as the carrier, from the Warring States period, Qin and Han Dynasties to the Republic of China, the period spanned more than 2400 years, with a wide range of materials and detailed contents, involving the history of cultural exchanges between China and the west, the history of Buddhism and the local history of Datong, so as to frame the whole rise and fall process of Yungang Grottoes from a large perspective. The publication of this book has important reference significance for the study of Yungang Grottoes, Datong historical and cultural city, and even the study of grotto temples at home and abroad.
