Yungang Art Gallery is located on the south side of Li Fo Avenue. The building is an archaized building with two floors. It covers an area of about 3000 m2 and an exhibition area of about 2,100 m2. The first floor is mainly for temporary exhibitions and the area is 582 m2, undertakes high-level and high-quality professional exhibitions with different themes at home and abroad. The second floor covers an area of 1438 m2, exhibiting sculptures, oil paintings, cultural relics, mural paintings, etc.
Relying on the profound history of the world cultural heritage and the artistic charm of the Five-A-Level tourist attractions, the art gallery takes publicity, openness, and diversity as its purpose, based on Yungang, looking to the world, and builds a superior art exhibition space and academic exchange platform for domestic and foreign artists. Providing ideal services for visitors to experience art, get close to art, and create art. It has played an important role in the development of the multiculturalism of Yungang Grottoes and the construction of a national art base.
The oil painting hall on the second floor has 44 works about Yungang on exhibition. They were created elaborately by 15 excellent young and middle-aged painters. Seventeen of the paintings were the works of Li Zaohua, a distinguished and specially invite artist from Yungang Grottoes Research Institute.
